Artist Biography

Marie Piombino, a local Pennsylvania artist, enjoys a dual career: marketing in the business world, and painting in the art world. She finds it constantly challenging to move from “analytics to art” with creative forces and freedom of expression

Choosing watercolor as her preferred medium, she experiments with various techniques to develop impressionisms and “emotionalisms”. Her favorite approach is to pencil a rough scene of the subject and select colors to create a mood. Once the chosen mixtures of colors are applied to rough textured paper, the water is moved around with a straight edged razor. This is referred to as the “razorblade” technique.

Her paintings have been shown and sold at the Shirlington Artists Guild in Arlington, Va., the Georgetown Artists Guild, in Washington, D.C., the Leslie Eadeh Gallery in Devon, Pa., and most recently at the Learning Studio in Malvern, Pa.
